2nd graders in Mr. Harne's class went on a nature walk to make observations of weather, trees, and phenology. The students collected leaves and sticks along their walk, and then made them into a nature walk collage. The colors and textures looked so cool!
3rd Graders in Mrs. Peterson's class helped to harvest produce from our courtyard garden, and then used it to make tomatillo salsa, cooked potatoes, and crunchy carrots! Yum yum!
We received a 3D printer through our Education MN grant, and had two 5th graders help to build it. They put in hours of time building and researching, and finally finished it! We're excited to use it!
Our kindergartners engaged in a day of making this fall and explored the engineering design process through hands-on activities with various materials.
This summer, teachers from Weaver Lake Elementary participated in Makerspace professional development, thanks to a grant from Crayola. They learned Scratch coding along with MakeyMakey at the University of St. Thomas, and then had time to develop their creative design process at Leonardo's Basement in St. Paul. Check out the photos below to see our teachers as makers!
